Unifor Canadian North Collective Agreement

Ottawa, Ontario, September 28, 2013 – The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister for the Status of Women, congratulated Canadian North and Unifor, Local 2002 (formerly known as the General Union of Canadian Workers) on an agreement ratified by members. Canada`s North offers scheduled flights and cargo services throughout Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. The collective agreement for 146 freight agents and agents expired on December 31, 2012. “I am pleased that Canadian North and Unifor, Local in 2002, worked together to reach an agreement,” said Minister Leitch. “Both parties continued to focus on the negotiation process that was beneficial in avoiding work stoppages and ensured continued service at Canadian North.” This press release is available upon request in other formats.
